Check out this Chinese proverb:
I really like it a lot.
But sometimes it’s hard to figure out exactly how to act on a proverb, even if I think I agree with it.
In today’s video I get very specific about what relaxation means to me and how it can help you a ton in your music life.
Here are your new homework items:
Homework Item #1: Watch the video you chose of your inspiration performer with the SOUNDS OFF.
Homework Item #2: Pay attention to yourself over the weekend and try to spot ONE THING you’re doing with extraneous tension aka a little too much effort.

Definitely something magic in your playing. (you are after all “the hot violinist”) But more than playing the violin, you have mastered playing your audience. That’s a good thing. Cheers.
Thanks for important reminder .
I will associate your name with relaxation practicing the violin.

I am working hard on relaxing the death grip with my left hand but I am not making much progres.
Love your assignments Jenny….
I’m an Aspie, so I tend to worry unreasonably more than the average human. So when everything in me from my own subconscious to all the bullies’ voices I’ve ever heard telling me I’m gonna choke in my performance, I find it very hard to relax. I’ve found that another aspect for me to do a good job is to give myself permission to be good, or to actually be excellent. That is when the relaxation comes; along with the confidence.
“Johnny be good!” It’s Okay to be excellent!
Excellent advice on relaxation. In addition to violin I think it can be applied to sports like my tennis game today!!
